Building an Observatory – gigabit network installation, security camera, and PC remote control

From the very beginning of the observatory build I decided that I didn’t want to use WiFi, simply because of the network speed and connectivity and signal strength. With that in mind I planned for to route 3 gigabit (CAT6) network cables out to the observatory and to install a gigabit switch with POE in the garage. In this video I will show you how I connected that to my existing network infrastructure with all aspects of running network cable, connecting network cable in my patch panel and making RJ45 connectors. I will also show the installation of the security camera and how I connect remotely to the PC in the observatory as well as how I remotely power it on.
