Elephant’s Trunk

The Elephant’s Trunk Nebula is a concentration of interstellar gas and dust located in the constellation Cepheus. The piece of the nebula in the bottom middle is commonly called the Elephant’s Trunk because of its appearance. The bright rim is the surface of the dense cloud that is being illuminated and ionized by a very bright, massive star, HD 206267.

Equipment: SkyWatcher EvoStar 80ED Pro (0,85x FR/FF) and Player One Poseidon-M Pro on SkyWatcher HEQ5 Pro with SkyWatcher EvoGuide 50ED and ZWO ASI120MM Mini. Player One SII, Ha, and OIII filters. Location: 63 degrees north with a bortle 4 sky.
